Reddot Design Award

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest and most important design awards in the world.
The purpose of the award is to honor the quality of designers and manufacturers who can compete for the award and are recognized at an annual ceremony in Essen, Germany.
The products that win this award are presented in the Red Dot museum in Essen.

The Red Dot Design Award recounts a tradition that has lasted more than 60 years. It was founded in July 1954 by the "Verein Industrieform" association on the initiative of Professor Dr. Carl Hundhausen of Krupp.
The association's purpose was to help create a more attractive environment, modernize German consumer goods and make them suitable for export, and participate in the transformation of Krupp's image in the aftermath of World War II.
1955 saw the first annual competition and first exhibition "Ständige Schau formschöner Industrieerzeugnisse" ("permanent exhibition of beautifully designed industrial products") in the city of Essen.
Over the years the event, due to its excellent qualities, has met with global attention.

The design is selected by international juries of competent experts in the areas of product design, communication design and design concepts.
